The
Challenge:
Jan
Mulder has performed concerts all over the world. Typically
Jan conducts an orchestra of 86 musicians. As an artist Jan
desires to move his audience with his music. Recently, Jan
wanted to deepen the experience by moving his audience with the use
of visual imaging.
One of the constraints was to use imaging that compliments
his music rather than distracts from it.
The
Solution:
Big
Picture Imaging developed a 120’ W x 40’ H backdrop depicting
the Grand Foyer of the Palais Garnier in Paris France (also known as
the Opéra de Paris or Opéra Garnier, but more commonly as the
Paris Opéra). In order to produce such a large picture a file needed to be
created that was large enough to ensure the proper resolution.
A photographer was hired to shoot several photos of the Grand
Foyer and six photos were “stitched” together to make the final
image.

The
backdrop consists of 12 panels that are 10’ wide.
Each panel has Velcro sewn on the edges and the panels are
joined together to comprise the full backdrop.
A truss system with 6 hoists is used to raise and lower the
backdrop. |
